| ValuMorgan's Breeding Philosophy We love the Morgan Horse and have worked hard to put together a small band of breeding horses that represent, what we think, is the best of the breed. We like a horse that has a nice way of going - balanced with that fancy Morgan trot - but typey and with some substance. Good hocks are a must. Occasionally, we'll get a slightly gaited horse (see Legendary Mariah and Valu's Irish Te), and we cherish them for what they can give us. They are all athletic and have amazing minds. Being thinking horses, we demand babies with kind temperaments. We imprint all newborns and spend daily time with all babies. We don't like to push them too hard too soon. Babies are all halter trained and trained to load before weaning, but we are careful to protect those gorgeous necks and heads by not focusing on too much leading and tying during the first year. We work hard to keep our overhead (and our horse prices) low. We don't have to pay off a fancy stable and we focus solely on breeding. All formal saddle training is done by contract trainers and doesn't begin until at least three years of age. We don't show - it costs money - but our horses certainly have the looks and talent to be competitive in the show ring. Color is nice, but conformation is crucial. Our little stud Mick has done a great job in both areas. We make certain that our broodmares have the best of care during their pregnancies for the best babies possible. That includes well-researched nutrition, immunizations and plenty of water and exercise. Unless otherwise stated, the price of all weanlings includes board for a month after weaning, worming and the first round of immunizations. It does not include transportation, registration, or transfer of ownership with the AMHA. (All of our babies are, of course, registrable). In general, we allow you to name your own horse.
